Chloe

Hello, my name is

I am an aspiring retail buyer with a passion for trend forecasting and all things creative. This site is where I share my professional journey, portfolio, and thoughts on the retail industry, focusing on trends, creative direction, and the art of product curation.

What I do

Over the years, I’ve built a strong foundation in creative thinking and design. My work spans from the basics (painting, drawing, photography) to the analysis of visual trends, always with a focus on the viewer, reader, or listener. My studio art degree has shaped my ability to think outside the box and approach challenges with different perspectives. I’ve developed a keen eye for design, a deep understanding of visual storytelling, and an appreciation for how art can connect with diverse audiences.

Art is a reflection. It’s not about the art itself, it’s about the viewer's reaction to it.

Why retail buying?

Retail buying is the art of selection. The ultimate showcase of how art is reflective on the viewer, now the wearer, owner, consumer. It gives the viewer the tools to be the artist, transforming them into the creator themselves.

Why I started the blog

I created this blog as a platform to showcase my work, share my evolving thoughts on trends, and document my growth as I work towards my goals. Retail buying is my current goal, whether or not that fulfills my creative appetite is to be determined. Before considering other occupations that would satisfy my creative needs, my original dream was to be a creative director for a marketing and branding agency. After some light work and internships within the marketing field, the ominous presence of AI is discouraging to a beginner, it feels impossible to out-run AI’s control over the market. I used to think this was my only way to have a job that also served as a creative outlet but after reflecting and shifting my perspective, I’ve discovered a plethora of other professions that I am excited about. Retail buying at the top.

I’ve always had an issue with procrastination. I often left projects to the last minute so I had an excuse if it didn’t turn out properly. This blog is me taking my first steps to overcoming this issue. I can dream all day long of the things I wish to accomplish, opening my own restaurant, curating my own brand, or opening my own storefront, but I’ll never get there if I don’t act now. In life’s game of would you rather, I’d rather fail in pursuit of my dreams than succeed in mediocrity.

Take a look at my portfolio, follow along for new blog posts, or get in touch if you’re interested in collaborating or have any questions.
